Is there an unemployment office near me in Arizona?

In the Department's own words, "DES does not have Unemployment Insurance offices." The ARIZONA@WORK centers listed at the end of this page are job centers: they will lend you a computer to file, but their staff do not handle claims.

How to reach DES about a claim without an office

• Online in CACTUS, the DES claim portal, where you apply, file weekly claims, answer eligibility questions, upload documents, and file appeals.
• By phone on the UI Call Center line, 1-877-600-2722. Option 1 of its menu explains how to apply, and the Department's claims rule allows an initial claim by telephone on a toll-free number, though DES may limit the ways it accepts claims.
• By mail on the paper Arizona Initial Claim for Unemployment Insurance form, in English or Spanish. Mail for the Unemployment Insurance Administration goes to P.O. Box 29225, Mail Drop 5895, Phoenix, Arizona 85038-9225.
• On a free computer at an ARIZONA@WORK office, if you have none at home.

Which DES number handles what

Each of these lines does one job, so pick the row that matches your question.

The handbook sends callers outside Maricopa and Pima counties to the toll-free number, and Phoenix-area and Tucson-area callers to their local numbers.

The UI Call Center menu and hours

When you call 1-877-600-2722, the menu offers:

1. How to apply for unemployment benefits.
2. Help with ID.me identity verification.
3. Overpayments, including waivers and payment options.
4. Claim information: status, automated payment details and balance, the payment card, appeal instructions, and other claim questions.
5. Answers to frequently asked questions.

Hours. DES's unemployment contact page and its handbook give no hours for live agents. The only hours on record are in leaflet UIB-1241A, dated January 2025, which the DES forms page no longer links: Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Mountain Standard Time. Treat them as that leaflet's hours, not a promise.

The automated system answers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with your latest payment (or the last week you filed) and your remaining balance; Option 2 on the phone system gives both. It asks for a 4-digit PIN, which you set in CACTUS by clicking your name in My Workspace and filling in the PIN ID field.

The call centers close on state holidays, including Monday, October 12, Wednesday, November 11, Thursday, November 26, and Friday, December 25, 2026, and Friday, January 1, 2027.

Help in Spanish and other languages

• The UI Call Center has English and Spanish options, and choosing Spanish sends you to a Spanish-speaking agent.
• DES web pages switch to Spanish from the Español option in the upper right corner.
• Spanish versions exist for the paper application (UIB-1272A-S), the paper weekly claim (UB-106A-S), the appeal form (UIB-0126A-S), and the handbook, Una Guía a los Beneficios de UI en Arizona (UIB-1240A-S). They are on the DES unemployment forms page.
• For any other language, the forms page says to contact any DES office; DES's office locator finds DES offices near you. DES's language policy provides interpreters, translators, and phone interpretation free of charge, and its Office of Equal Opportunity takes requests for language help or a disability accommodation.

What ARIZONA@WORK centers can and cannot do

ARIZONA@WORK is Arizona's network of job centers. Some are affiliate offices inside a community or social service office, some are comprehensive one-stops with programs such as vocational rehabilitation, reentry, adult education, and youth services, and some are specialized centers open limited hours.

They can give you a computer to file a claim or a weekly claim at no cost, and point you to a nationwide list of job openings, resume help, employment counseling, referrals to reemployment training, labor market and career information, and representatives for veterans. You can also book a virtual appointment with a workforce specialist from home. Searching for work in Arizona covers these services.

They cannot answer questions about your claim. DES says its workforce specialists cannot help with unemployment claims, and sends those questions to 1-877-600-2722.

ARIZONA@WORK job centers by city

A few entries need a note. The Quechan Indian Tribe's center is across the state line in Winterhaven, California. From inside Pinal County, you can reach the Casa Grande center by dialing 311. Some centers list no phone number at all on the ARIZONA@WORK site.
